October Dates

Hey everybody! This is a BUSY month and there are a lot more activities this month that aren't listed (pick up a Rutherford Parent if interested), but enough to keep us with full schedules. There are so many, so write them down or post them on your computer calendar NOW! Hope you all are great and see you soon!


Saturday, Oct. 3rd & 4th- FREE- Cheekwood- (I will be out of town, but get a group and go. It sounds like fun!)If you're looking for cheap fall activities for the family, this is a great opportunity! Every fall, Cheekwood has a FREE weekend. And its this coming weekend, October 3rd and October 4th. Admission is FREE and there are plenty of activities to take in.

They have a Silly Scarecrows exhibit throughout the gardens that will definitely bring a smile to your face. On Saturday from 10am-12noon, families can even make their own silly scarecrow! There's something for the whole family, and the best part is...its FREE with gate admission ($10 adults, $5 ages 6-17, free ages 5 and under)

Another option- Oct. 3rd- The Avenue here in Murfreesboro- Fall Kids Fest- FREE 11 am- 4 pm

Thursday, Oct. 8th- 12-2 pm. Walden Pumpkin Farm- Smyrna, TN--bring a picnic lunch and enjoy hayrides, farm animals, pumpkins, kiddie corn maze (some things may cost) FREE to go www.waldenfarm.biz

Friday, Oct. 9th- Fall Harvest Festival FALL HARVEST HAYRIDE - Friday, October 9, 2009 from 5-9pm
Hayrides, live music, campfire, hotdogs, children's activities, and more! Join the Friends of the Greenway and Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department for the 12th annual event. Old-fashioned entertainment that is fun for the whole family. Located at the General Bragg Trailhead, 1540 West College St., admission is $2 per person, ages 2 and under are free. This includes a hayride and marshmallows, other food sold separately. For more information, contact Angela Jackson, 893-2141.



Moms' Night Out Friday, 16th- Cheap fun!- Bring a snack to share at the church at 6:00 (or whenever you can get there) and we'll watch a movie on a big screen at church. My Sisters' Keeper might be out. Move posted closer to date.
Saturday & Sunday, October 17-18-- FREE - Arts & Crafts Fair- Bell Buckle- Very crowded, so be patient, have fun, and enjoy the sites.

Harvest Day and Fiber Festival
Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.- FREE- Cannonsburgh (http://www.murfreesborotn.gov/default.aspx?ekmenu=126&id=3042)


Another option- Oct. 24th- FREE- 3 - 5 p.m.The Avenue- Halloween at The Avenue- Ages 2-12- storytelling, balloon art, face painting, candy, and games

Friday, Oct 30th- Halloween Fun at church- FREE- The kids can dress up and we have a celebration of our on at church. Bring a dish to share for a potluck in the Fellowship Hall at 5:30 (come when you can) and we will start watching a Veggie Movie or two in the Family Life Center around 6:30. We had a great time last year!
